Boston is for lovers

I must admit that while I was happy to be planning Eric's dream vacation to Boston, I wasn't that excited about the trip besides making him happy. Boston had never been on my radar so I really didn't know what to expect. As the trip grew closer and I saw more photos of Boston, it became more real to me and I got really excited to explore a new city with my man! You guys, I can't even tell you how surprised I was to completely and totally fall in love with Boston! This city will forever hold a special place in my heart... and maybe someday we will even live there ;) (I wish!)
crappy photos courtesy of my cell phone. totally kicking myself for leaving my camera behind for the game!
After a full day of traveling last Tuesday, we finally made it to Boston in time for dinner (between flying and time change, it was really a late lunch for us). We dropped off our bags in the one bedroom vacation rental we chose to stay in, which was right in the North End (Little Italy) and it could not have been a more perfect location for us! We wandered the streets until we found Mike's Pastry, then we ventured off to find dinner ;) We found Paul Revere's home and many more monumental landmarks as we explored the North End until we settled on pizza from Ernesto's. We totally recommend Ernesto's for lunch, dinner, late night snack... $4 for a slice of pizza, and that slice is really a quarter of the pizza! So big, so cheap, SO good!
The next morning we were up bright and early (the most painful part of the trip besides walking at least 15 miles a day, I'm the genius who didn't pack good walking shoes, was no sleeping in! We were up early each day to make sure we fit in everything we could!) and headed to Fenway Park to purchase our batting practice/ballpark tour tickets! We got passes for the T and you better believe I felt like a legit Bostonian, ha ha! I can't even explain how badly I want to live there and be apart of that city! After purchasing our tickets, we made our way to the Prudential Center. Walking the streets of Boston was amazing! The buildings are beauuuuutiful! I mean, I could totally live there (ha ha)! From there we decided to take a Duck Tour. This sounded totally cheesy but we loved it! We were so happy to take the tour our first morning there, we saw so many amazing sights and were able to map out what we were really interested in seeing the rest of our trip! After the Duck Tour we wandered through the city, ate lunch, wandered some more until Eric could no longer contain himself. It was time to explore Fenway Park :)
Of course our first stop on Yawkey Way was the Red Sox fan store where Eric mapped out everything he wanted to buy (which he didn't even end up buying, I think he was just in heaven being surrounded by so much Red Sox crap, ha ha!) I'm still kicking myself for leaving the camera behind at our place... somehow I totally forgot that we weren't just going to the game, but doing a tour of the ball park and watching batting practice as well. Ugh! So we didn't really get pictures of the tour :( We pretty much spent most of the tour on the Green Monster and Eric was in heaven! We bought the ridiculously expensive "fan photo" but it's a cute picture, and we were right on the field, and the players are batting behind us, and I forgot my camera #facepalm While we were waiting to get back into the park for the game, Eric ate his first Lobstah roll and once again, he was in heaven! We ate crappy ball park food (seriously crappy... but Eric liked the peanuts, so there's that!) Unfortunately the Red Sox lost to the Blue Jays, but lucky us, we had tickets to another game so it wasn't too big of a bummer!
I kind of missed Mia like crazy with this being our first full day without her, but at the same time I was so happy soaking up every second of the time with my husband in the beautiful city!

Oooh I'd love to get to Boston one day and I know Keith wouldn't have an issue with it as long as we went during hockey season and he could see a Bruins game ;)

So glad you had such a good time there! I was surpassed by how much I've enjoyed Boston myself, not being so much of a city girl. How fun you guys go to go to a Sox game!

so. i go to boston every fall. because harvard is a really thing in my life. ANYWAY. the first time i went to visit my kiddo, we're wandering around the park (with my crappy guidebook) and she's like "have you ever done a duck tour?" and i was like no... (that's a thing?) and she was like, "WHAT KIND OF GUIDEBOOK DO YOU EVEN HAVE?!" And we both burst out laughing... but reading your boston adventure, I realize THE DUCK TOUR IS TOTALLY A THING. AND I'M CLEARLY THE ONLY PERSON WHO HASN'T DONE IT.

What a fun trip!!!! I can imagine how EXCITED Eric was! He looks SO happy in all the pictures! Luckily for Seth, we live so close to Angels stadium but anytime we visit a new stadium, he's like a kid in a candy store!
