talk to the hand...

Being a hairstylist I have had many, many conversations where I am offered advice... whether I want it or not. Sometimes it's good advice, other times it's really weird advice, and a few times it's been just plain crappy advice. By putting myself "out there" in the social media world via my blog, Instagram, Facebook, etc, people offer their two cents... whether I asked for it or not. Most of the time I love it, sometimes I've rolled my eyes at it, and other times it's just pissed me right off. People will always be giving their opinions, whether you wanna hear it or not. Being a hairstylist I've discovered that people sit in my chair and they just need to talk. So I let them! It's what I decide to do with their opinions that truly affect me. Thankfully all those years of doing hair and subjecting myself to the internet world taught me an important lesson before becoming a mother (which is when people love to share their opinion most, as I'm sure most mommas would agree, ha!) on how to "lovingly handle when someone shares their opinion"...

I'm sure the suspense is killing you...

Let it in one ear, and out the other.

That's it! That's all I've got for today. It truly is that simple! If something is super hurtful or offensive, vent to your husband, mom or best friend and get the annoyance out of your system and then... let it go :)

Great advice. I try to do this with most things, but some opinions just bug me and I can't help but to get irritated!

Good advice, I try to do it, else I just complain to my hubby after I smile and nod to the offender!

You said let it go and I automatically thought of Frozen. But that is so true. You just have to let things go!

it really is good advice.
I see advice as more of an opinion thing and everyone has an opinion, some I agree with and some I don't.
I take what works for me and the rest is what it is.

YES YES YES! So true. I need to take your advice!! Most of the time, the advice I am given is good, helpful, positive advice. And I welcome that! But when you just want to say something rude, keep it to yourself. I had someone (a family member) say some very hurtful things to me. I think she thought she was trying to help and give "advice" but it was more like judging and insulting. I was so mad. I vented to my husband. He was so mad. But eventually we got over it. In one ear and out the other. And now I know how to handle any situation with her now and in the future.

This is so true! When I was a new mum, I was doubting everything I did and I was given so much conflicting advice. It's when I stopped listening to everyone else that I trusted myself a bit more and realised that I know best!

This is so true. You have to take the good with the bad cuz it's everywhere. In one ear & out the other - very, very true. :)

I always say, I'll take all the advice I can get, and then do exactly what I want. :)
