an important reminder

"In speaking of mothers generally, I especially wish to praise and encourage young mothers. The work of a mother is hard, too often unheralded work. Through these years, mothers go longer on less sleep and give more to others with less personal renewal for themselves than any other group I know at any other time in life.

Do the best you can through these years, but whatever else you do, cherish that role that is so uniquely yours and for which heaven itself sends angels to watch over you and your little ones.

Please know that it is worth it then, now, and forever.

May I say to mothers collectively, in the name of the Lord, you are magnificent. You are doing terrifically well. The very fact that you have been given such a responsibility is everlasting evidence of the trust your Father in Heaven has in you.

No one has failed who keeps trying and keeps praying.
Yours is the work of salvation, and therefore you will be magnified, compensated, made more than you are and better than you have ever been as you try to make honest effort, however feeble you may sometimes feel that to be.

Rely on Him. Rely on Him heavily. Rely on Him forever. And “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope.” You are doing God’s work. You are doing it wonderfully well. He is blessing you and He will bless you, even—no, especially—when your days and your nights may be the most challenging."
Jeffery R. Holland

To all my momma friends (and those yearning to become mothers), we are doing so good. YOU are doing so good! We must never forget...

Such a great read. I'm not a mommy yet [hopefully in twoish years haha], but I can only imagine how hard it is. I find it so sad that often mothers, especially young and first time moms are talked down too and discouraged. I always try to lift up and say 'you're doing great' even if they feel frazzled and frumpy!

So sweet friend, you are doing great and your child knows she is loved!

Happy weekend!

This is encouraging. I think sometimes we all need to hear we are doing a good job! Some women are SO judgemental. "Oh, I cloth diaper..why don't you?!" Or "I breastfeed my baby because that's whats best." I tried to breastfeed but couldn't and felt awful. My doctor reassured me that we've made such advances in formula that she wouldn't suffer because I was unable to BF! Being a young Mom(having my first at 15!) I get judged A LOT!

Thanks for reminding me of this. I especially needed it today as being a mommy of two lately has been a challenge! Love Elder Holland!

Oh my gosh, I had a similar speech on my blog today too, except you wrote it much more eloquently.

I love what you wrote, and I love the photos <3

Beautiful words. Thank you for sharing. Even for us not-yet-mothers, we need to be reminded of this to store up for the future.

I love Elder Holland's talks. They are just the best. I need reminded of this often. I swear I go to bed every night thinking I'm a failure as a Mom. I didn't do enough of this or that. Or, if I was a better Mom then God would bless me with another child...

I just need to remember if I'm doing the best I can then that is enough. I'm trying and that is good enough. Thanks!
