telling Eric the news about baby BOY

So I realized after reading your comments on last weeks post when I shared how I surprisingly found out the baby's gender early, that I didn't share how I told Eric the news! My creative juices definitely weren't flowin' as I was still in shock and just wanted to share the news with Eric... so the reason this is getting a post of it's own is because of Eric's reaction :) Men!

After my appointment with the doctor, Mia and I ran to WalMart to grab a few things and while I was picking up diapers, I decided to take a look at the baby boy clothes to see if I could find an outfit to bring home for Eric. After browsing for a minute I was drawn to the baby girl outfits (of course!) and decided it was best to just get out of there since I wasn't having any luck falling in love with the boy clothes. I did grab some baseball binkies though, because duh ;)
When I saw Eric later that day he asked how the appointment went and I showed him the ultrasound photos. I told him that in the top photo our baby's hands were on the sides of his face "like in Home Alone" according to our doctor. We laughed as I told Eric that obviously meant we were going to have a little terror on our hands because.... then I pointed to the bottom photo and said, "so these are the legs..." and let him figure out the rest, just like the doctor did for me. Eric smirks and says, "well, he does have Italian in his blood!" Oh my good grief! I admit that this was a really good shot at just 16 weeks of his... boy parts... (thank heavens, actually! He was moving around so much during our anatomy ultrasound this week that we didn't get a clear shot!) but, he's my baby! Men, ha ha!
Eric had been saying all along that he wanted another girl "because it gives me another excuse to buy a gun" (umm, no.) and he just really loved the idea of having a house full of girls. I had been feeling so strongly that this babe was a boy so there was no surprise for me there, but I admit I had one fleeting moment where I was a little bummed that Mia wasn't getting a sister. I was only sad because a sister is something I'd always wished for while growing up! But like I said, it was a fleeting moment because, well, how can you not be happy about the gender either way?! It's a baby and we are so grateful! But it was fun to watch Eric walk around so smug and definitely proud of the fact that he was getting a son. We are SO excited for our baby boy!!
When I finished telling Eric about our appointment he quickly informed me that I can pick out a couple outfits for our boy, but he was in charge of the wardrobe! I told him about my experience in WalMart and not being able to find anything I liked when he rolled his eyes at me and said, "no! We're going to Nike, babe!!" I daresay having a boy might be more expensive than a girl,  ha ha!

So cute! I personally love that it's going to be a boy! Such a perfect little family and I'm sure Eric is pumped to have another little buddy around.

Aw!! I'm glad he's getting a little boy, even if at first he wanted a girl. I think it'll definitely help his stress levels when all the girls are going crazy, to grab his little dude and go shoot some hoops or something... leave the women to their madness (you know me all totally have that). I always think if I'd want a girl or a boy next and my gut whispers GIRL because that's all I know but then the idea of Lyla having a brother is just the cutest thing. I think a boy and a girl is the perfect combination, especially when this close in age!

Hahaha about Eric wanting to dress his boy! The only thing either one of us is specific about is that we don't really like character clothes. Actually, that might just be me. Ha!

My husband is the same with boy clothes! He already said he wants to dress our future son like a little athlete. $$$ yikes!

Hahah! Men. No offense to Eric, he probably has way better taste than Seth (sorry Seth!), but i recommend you dress baby boy as well. Even though I pick out and buy all of Mason's stuff, on the mornings when I work early and Seth dresses him for school, I get home at night and am like "did he wear that to school?" "yes... why?" "oh no reason..." LOL. Men!
SO excited for baby BOY!

Haha- love his reaction, too funny!! I think I'd be in trouble with a boy too- SO many Nike and Under Armour little outfits to put them in! ;)

Hah! My husband said the same thing about our son's clothes. He told me that he was only going to wear brand name stuff and nothing with animals on it. Let's just say he didn't realize how expensive baby clothes are.. our child is most often dressed in clothes from Target, Kohl's or Carter's on sale. I don't think he even owns Nike or Under Armour!

Hahaha! Guy reactions and responses kill me every time.
I agree with Elizabeth. While I'm sure Eric has great style you should probably hang on to clothing duty. There are so many times Scott dresses Marcus and I cannot for the life of me figure out why the idea seemed like a good idea.
I highly suggest checking Gymboree (especially the clearance), Baby Gap (again, clearance), and Carters for cute boy clothes. Target and WalMart are totally hit and (mostly) miss when it comes to cute baby boy clothes.

lol that is too funny. And I like the he wants to pick out the clothes. I'm pretty sure Chris would not care at all. I'd just dress a little boy in plaid all.the.time. My fave.

cutest story!! and that is ONE impressive ultra sound!!

hahahaha I love it! My husband always tells me "no" when I point out cute plaid shorts with pink in them or little pink polos. He says I am not allowed to dress any future boys we may/may not have. lol

How exciting. Dressing boys are so much fun (after all I have 4 of them), when my neice stays over, I don't even know what to do with her, I can't even fix her hair... haha the next day she is running around in her cousin's basketball shorts and Nike shirts hahaha

Loooove this!!! I think boy clothes are super cute & just think the dynamic between mia and a little brother will be adorable!!!!!!! :)

Congratulations! Men are so predictable. Your husband sounds like mind... Just wait until you have two boys running through the house that pee in the backyard just because and talk about their family jewels. It look like you and Mia are in for a ride :)
