a peek into our home

I want to post a couple pictures of our home and talk about it for the sake of journaling.... but I feel no attachment to this house. It just doesn't feel like "home". I mean, the house is very nice and SO big for just the two of us, but it definitely feels like a rental. I've only hung 3 pictures on the wall, ha ha. Maybe if I host a little blogger party at my house it will make me decorate and have this place looking like it's "ours"? Except Eric would KILL me if I tried that :)

Our living room is really big, but it's an odd shape. If I could have my Christmas tree up all year then that spot in front of the bay windows would be perfect. But for now it's just an awkward, empty space. And yes, that is totally a huge teddy bear sitting in the chair in the corner :) We brought it out for our friends kids to play with and never put it away, ha ha!
I need to decorate above the cabinets!
I promise we have a 6th chair :) Eric was using it in the other room.
Our messy closet :) But it's huge! (Do you like our cheap "drawers"? We aren't buying a nice set until we buy a house so that they won't get scratched and ruined during moves.)
Eric loves his wall of hats (he has a billion more not pictured). In case you can't tell... he's a red sox lover :)
I have pictures lining the walls on the floor.... someday they'll go up?

Our house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a 2 car garage. Nice and big :) It's been really nice to live in a house versus an apartment so that we can get an idea of what we like, and what we don't like for when we buy a home! I am so grateful to be living in such a nice house!  And who knows, maybe by the time we move out it will finally feel like home? :)

I love seeing pictures of other people's houses - I'm so nosy!

I moved into my house a few months ago. It used to belong to my great-grandmother, and I spent a lot of time in growing up (I grew up next door). We renovated the entire house, and I always mean to put pictures up on the blog, but I don't.

I know what you feel about a house not feeling like a home. I think it takes time!

It's beautiful!! It takes a while for your house to feel like home. There are still things I have yet to do at our house too. The top of our kitchen cabinets (like yours) have nothing either. I love your nice big closet! That was one thing I love about my house too.

I know what you mean, but I am so jealous you get to rent a house! Apartments are getting way old. Yet, even though we're renting, I try to make the space feel like ours so we can feel like we have a home. It would definitely be intimidating to try to decorate so much wall space though! Especially on a budget.

I could live in that closet! Super jealous!

Beautiful house! It's so big! The apartment we just moved into is tiny! But it's more space than we had at my inlaws so it's an improvement! I've definitely been getting rid of LOTS of stuff these past two weeks though from what we had in our townhome. Pretty much it's all stuff we never used anyway. =)

I'm major jealous of that closet. I've never had a walk-in and I want/need one. Oh well. My closet is pretty big right now it's just really long and it's hard to get to the space in the middle of it because of the wall between the closet doors. =/

i can TOTALLY relate. the top of my kitchen cabinets needs help, too... i just don't know what to do up there!! and my dining room table is missing a chair, too... i use it for my office space upstairs, so ours always has 5 instead of 6. haha. and i have picture-less frames hanging on the wall. it's terrible i'm working on it... slowly but surely!

I hear ya my friend...it's so hard to make a rental house feel like home sometimes huh? I mean, you can decorate like crazy, but it's still not "your" house...

I can't wait to see it after you hang some stuff up though! I'm sure it will be so cute!

well, attachment or not, it's lovely. but i agree ... it's not about the size or the style or anything else, you have to feel like it's "home". our house is teeny tiny ... but it's definitely home and I wouldn't trade it for anything. well, except for maybe your gigantic home. ;)

I'm feeling that way too right now about it not feeling like "home" although this has been our home for 11 years, and my son has been raised here, I'm anxious to get into our new house and start creating my OWN home. It's hard to do that any place when you know it's not where you plan to plant your roots. The home is beautiful though I have to say!

Wow! That house looks HUGE! I would love it. Are you allowed to paint? I know some places will let you for 50.00. You could totally make that house yours.

Wow your home is beautiful!! It has so much potential...especially that kitchen. I can't wait to decorate our new place. I've been all over pinterest trying to get some ideas. Your house may not feel like "home" but what makes it home is you and your hubby, right? :) Someday you'll look back and say, remember our first house?

Antoinette Musik said...

Your house looks fabulous, I wish my kitchen was that big!!!!

Keri said...

That's the nicest rental I've ever seen!!

Janna Renee said...

We have to rent and move constantly too. Luckily, I was taught to treat each place like it is a sanctuary, so I have re-decorated every time we move. Since I can't have my hubby, it's nice to have a homey home! This house isn't as open as I would like, so let's trade? Or you can just come visit :)

Wow, wow, wow...your place is beautiful and looks HUGE! I know it doesn't feel like home, but I'd love to live in it! ;)

For a rental, it is SOOOOOOOO nice!!!!!
