I don't think I'll get that luxury of sleeping my sickness off and having food brought to me with no other interruptions until our kids are grown and out of the house, HA!
I have been extremely lucky to say I've been so sick that I just needed to lay around all day, twice, since Mia was born. Or I can only remember 2 times at the moment :) The first time Mia was just a few months old so she just played on the floor while I watched her from the couch, then she took the longest nap ever, which meant I took the longest nap ever! She was such an angel baby until Eric could come home from work and take over.
The second time was only a few months ago. I tried making breakfast for Mia and barely got the food on her plate. After that I literally turned on the TV, prayed Mia wouldn't get into too much trouble, and fell asleep on the couch. HA! Mia was, once again, an angel! She stayed right next to the couch playing with toys and watching TV. She went down for her nap and I got to sleep some more! To Eric's credit, he came home as soon as he could and took over dinner and bedtime! But really, no sick days to cover when the mom is sick? Someone really should make that a thing. To save the sanity of the sick spouse at home, to save the paycheck of the hard working spouse who can't afford to take a random day off, and to probably save the life of the child who is left to fend for him/herself, HA!
Obviously I am no help today because other than TV and prayer, I got nothin'!

Being sick as a mom has GOT to be the worst. I'm glad it's only happened a couple times, but I can totally understand how awful it must be. I nannied (definitely not the same) and there were a few times that even though I was incredibly sick (these parents didn't care if their kids got sick, sad), I just couldn't take the day off for one reason or another (usually because there would be no one to watch the kids) and it was like torture!!!
Strep is such a nasty, nasty bug!
And you're absolutely right- so hard (near impossible!) to take a proper sick day when you're a mom. You're super woman, lady!

Oh man...strep is the absolute WORST.
Thank goodness for TV on days mama needs to take a sick day.
Gosh I can't even imagine. I was recently sick and my pups wanted to play but I was able to shut my door and ignore them lol. I guess you can't do that with a baby!! Gosh I'll be screwed - kudos to you mama.
Yes! I mama's job is 24/7; non stop. When mama is sick, no one cares! LOL.
I had one awfully sick day when I actually had to crawl to the bathroom because when i stood up I got so dizzy. Thankfully my sister in law was around and came to get Palmer for the day! I don't know what I would have done otherwise!
Girl I give you so much credit! Being sick usually means calling in sick and laying around and getting taken care of but when you're a mom you don't get that luxury!

Poor mama's getting sick. I'm glad Mia knew to be an angel when you weren't feeling well.
Momma's never get a day off but luckily you have an angel baby and she behaved so well ;) I think my job is preparing me for that kinda' life because I can't remember the last time I EVER took a sick day from this office!
I have never been so thankful to be a working mom than I am when I am sick and can stay home and Grayson can still go to daycare. I don't know how SAHMs do it!
I would be so frustrated with that doctor for not testing his throat! How awful for him to be sick. Thankfully he was able to stay away from you two though! That's the way we do things around here too. I'm glad Mia is such an angel for you! being sick is no fun -so it's always good when your little pal can take care of themselves for a bit :)
Being sick as a mom and taking care of little ones is the worst!! I remember I had the stomach flu and two crying toddlers in the hallway with me. It was a nightmare!
It's so hard to be sick with kiddos. I've felt pretty cruddy this pregnancy, and my hubby has been a champ and taking the boys so I can rest. It's tough!
Amen. I have said MANY times to my hubby that Mamas don't get sick days, and it is AWFUL when we get sick! I feel like it takes me twice as long to get better too, because I'm too busy taking care of everyone else to rest! I can't wait until my parents retire so I have a back-up plan.
