 headband c/o Emma's Kloset
Loving: all the Halloween/Fall fun we are having with Mia so far! Everything is so new and exciting again, seeing it through Mia's eyes. I can't wait to share what we've been up to and the happiness it brings our favorite little girl!

Reading/Watching: Once again, I'm not reading anything new. But we did pull out some fun Halloween themed books for Mia :)
We are slowly but surely making our way through our Netflix queue! We finished Psych (weirdest ending, ya'll. Thoughts??) and now we are watching Bones. This has probably been our favorite series on Netflix! The only thing that would make me happier is if Netflix would stream NCIS! I'm a sucker for those types of shows :) I'm also watching Pretty Little Liars in my down time and I kind of think this is the perfect month to catch up on that show!

Trying to: gear up for getting rid of Mia's binky. I have such mixed thoughts about this, and to be honest? I wish I would have lost the binky when Mia was 9-11 months old, which is when I heard the best time to do that is, but I didn't want her to cling to nursing (human binky? no thank you!) so I let her keep it. She's pretty much only had the bink for nap/bed time and in the car since she was just a few months old, but lately she can barely survive the car without it. She demands to have her "gee-gy" before we are finished buckling her in and it's driving me crazy. So even though I know how much she loves it, and it brings her such comfort, it's time to get rid of it! I don't want to lose my mind, or my patience over her need to the binky and it's time for her to learn to cope. But gosh, it's going to break my heart just as much as it breaks hers when we take it away. I'm already dreading the day!! (Advice is welcome for the weaning process!)

Wishing: that Eric and I could have more date nights! We've only been out on one date (aside from an hour excursion at his work) since our Boston trip, yikes! It's so hard to nail down a babysitter in this town and we can't travel to family every week to have a babysitter. We try to make the most of our time at home and we have the funnest family outings... but I wish we could have one day a week where we could escape from our home, our responsibilities and stresses for a couple hours and just focus on us. Have fun together, be care free together, bond and rediscover different areas of our relationship. And I'll be honest, I feel a little guilty taking Eric away from Mia just to spend some time with me, but man, I think we really need it!

Excited for: Trick or Treating with Mia! We will probably only take her to a couple homes but she was too young for it last year, so this will be her first time! Mia seems so big these days, and with her second birthday fast approaching, it makes my momma heart happy to realize that we still get to experience these silly, but fun and happy "firsts" with her!

My nephew had a hard time getting rid of his paci. We packed them up and he gave them as a "gift" to a new baby. It worked for him because he has such a giving personality! Good luck!

I really enjoyed the Psych ending! What about it did you think was weird??

I think it's so great that you both get to experience this season/trick or treating through the eyes of Mia - it's so new and different!! My mom tells me the story of getting rid of my "binky" by one of her friends just taking it away from me one day - I was like 2 and saying another little girl needed it! I mean I'm sure I was distraught - but clearly I don't remember!

I've never watched bones!! I wonder if I'd like it! I'm in need of a new show so maybe i'll give it a shot! Good luck with the binky-removal. Just have patience!

Binky ridding idea.....

My best friend tried this with her daughter and it worked great for them!! A "binky fairy" came and got her binky in the middle of the night because "tiny babies need them when they're born and they have to get them from big kids". When the binky fairy came, she dropped off a "big girl present" for her being so sweet and giving her binkies to new babies!

Just a thought, but hey! Maybe it's worth a shot?? I bet she'll do way better than you think! My oldest daughter (2 years old now) never even turned back when we took hers at 1! She asked for it a couple times, but that's it!

Sending binky fairy dust your way! haha

I LOVED Psych. I thought the ending was cute and true to the nature of the show. But I really just miss them!!!! And Bones was my favorite binge watch on Netflix ever. We had no kids, so we'd come home from work and watch like five or six episodes! Ha!!

Axel was really congested a few weeks ago, so much that his binky was making him gag and throw up. So week took it away. For FOUR days! He did great, but on the fourth day he got a fever (that kid cannot catch a break) and was crying for his "mimi" so I gave it back. Right now he's been away for over an hour, but I wasn't ready to get up so I slept a little more, got showered and then made breakfast and he's still hanging out in bed happy. That's thanks to his "mimi" so I'm not sure I'm ready to give it up yet either. . .

I'm also excited about trick-or-treating. Holidays are so fun with kids!

You'll know what to do about the paci! She'll either outgrow it, or I like the idea about swapping it out for a really awesome toy or doll!

Girl if I lived there I would watch your little nugget every weekend! Not sure if www.sittercity.com is big in your neck of the woods, but a lot of my coworkers use it to find sitters and nannies.

Good luck with the binky thing. I'm sure that after a while she will be OK without it. So fun about trick-or-treating with her though!! I hope that you get some more date nights with your husband too. If I lived nearby I'd help you out! :-)

Oh, I am so excited for trick-or-treating this year! We didn't go last year either because E was too little, but I'm hoping we can knock on at least a few doors this year ...even though he can't talk and [shouldn't] eat candy... it's a fun little thing though and I think it would just be fun to take him. Also, I think it's pretty adorable with the little babies like Mia and E come up to my door for trick-or-treating! They are too cute at this age :)

man! I am not looking forward to the pacifier weaning processs. I figure you don't see any Kindergarteners using them, so I try not to dwell on it. If it comforts them...that being said, we limit it to naps and bedtime and longer car rides (over an hour, especially when it's nap time). Maybe try just weaning the car time with it, say that binky has to stay home and keep all of her dolls safe or something. Then when that's complete start working on the bed/nap time. Let me know how it goes. I know mine still needs it for bed time...I'm scared. haha.

It sounds like fall is pretty awesome with a little one! Love the picture :) Good luck with the weaning!

Coutrney! Lets trade date nights. We don't get out much for the same reason.

PLL is my fav! I'm finally caught up and now watching vampire diaries :) and boo for not getting date nights. We have zero family close by so this never happens for us either.

My co-worker took her 2 year old on a special date to Build A Bear and they put her binky inside the bear with the stuffing. So now she has a binky bear to snuggle instead of a binky. Seems to work well for her.

My daughter is 1.5 years old and loves her binky as well, so I'm sure I'll be going through this same decision soon as well. Solidarity Momma friend!

I miss trick or treating! It'll be so fun when we have little ones to get to do all that kid stuff all over again.

That oicture, beautiful!!!! And we are still struggling with pacis ... Still! She gets them at bedtime.

We've been trying to ween Presley off her binky...for two weeks. Yeah it's a lot harder than I thought! Kyson weened himself at six months so I'm not sure how long it'll take. If I have any advice I would say go into it knowing there will be lots of crying so you can stay more patient. And stay consistent! Good luck!

Also - Um Mia looks beyond adorable! that peplum top is killing me.
I am so excited for trick or treating with the babe! They are at the age that they actually kind of understand! Cannot wait to see what she will be! She will be the cutest little trick or treater out there!
