busy, busy, busy

Mia's first time ever painting. She loved this activity SO much!
so much attitude because the paining fun had to end... ha ha!
headband c/o Emma's Kloset
I'm really sorry to say that I've got nothin' for today's post! Mia is a very busy toddler, BUT I don't have to entertain her too much. She is great with independent play and spends a lot of her day in the back, playing with her outdoor toys. Plus I really try to fill our day with play dates, gym sessions (daycare), errands and park time. Unfortunately for us... that's all about to come to a crashing halt. Our winters can be MISERABLE. Snow and temperatures in the negatives, plus we are surrounded my mountains and get the worst winds from the canyons. Like I said, miserable! I'm really dreading being cooped up inside for the next 6 months! I'm hoping to plan a lot of play dates but I'm going to have to get creative with ideas to make our days fun, and to help us avoid the loony bin, if ya know what I'm sayin' ;) So I'm really looking forward to reading your posts and getting ideas!
I can tell you that Eric and I are getting Mia a toddler slide for her birthday, and a golf set and kitchen (if we can find one we love that doesn't break the bank... advice? I suck at online shopping, ha!) for Christmas that should help on the really bad days that are just too cold to venture outside. We also bought a little blow up pool that I've been saving to fill with ball pit balls, that will be a fun activity I can pull out a couple times a week for Mia! I'll have to get creative and craft, paint, let Mia help me bake, read lots of books, puzzles, etc. I try really hard to avoid turning on the TV (once in a blue moon is great, but I don't like to fill her day with shows) so I seriously need ideas to help me from turning to the TV for sanity this winter. I'd love to hear tips, advice and ideas from everyone else who isn't linking up!!
P.S. Emma's Kloset has been posting the most adorable "fallish" bows! Totally worth looking into!

I'm with ya girlfriend! I try to keep our days filled too. Last winter was brutle. I really thought I was going insane for a bit. Hopefully this year since our toddlers are a bit older it will be a bit easier. I know we for sure had more screen time last year than I'd like to admit. Do ya'll have indoor parks, bounce houses, or the like up there? Those were big hits down here last year. If all else fails we usually pack up and head to Target for a popcorn/drink and some walking around or Chik-Fil-A to eat and play. Anything goes in the winter!

cute photos! In the winter we bring in my sons slide and let him play with it in the living or in the garage...He also has a cheap set of golf clubs from walmart ($5) and plays with them ALL the time.

I absolutely LOVE (and am a little jealous) that she is painting her pumpkin outside in the sunshine in just a diaper. You'd NEVER see that here in Minnesota.

I am in the same boat as you are! It's nice to have a little one that is easily entertained and keeps themselves busy, but I do need to add some little actives into our lives [especially his!].

Don't know how much housework (dishes, laundry, etc.) you have to do or when you usually do it, but whenever I've ran out of ideas and I'm trying to avoid turning on the tv I have Roland do the chores with me. Granted it takes like 10x longer to actually get the stuff done (and we've had a couple broken bowls because of it), but he seems to enjoy it and who knows maybe he'll actually want to help when he gets older :)

cutest picture painting ever. Diaper, sun glasses and a headband, what more do you need? You need to get this kitchen: http://www.amazon.com/Little-Tikes-Cook-Grow-Kitchen/dp/B008N6INE8/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1413494500&sr=8-16&keywords=play+kitchens

it can go low for baby #2 or kids that come over that are smaller, and then for Mia now you can put the oven and fridge together to make it higher. It's an awesome kitchen. WE gave it to my son when he was 1 (he's almost 4) and he still plays with it almost everyday. When my daughter got to sitting age, we lowered the stove part and she LOVES standing at it and cooking...get that one! Seriously awesome.

oh and 6 months of winter...yikes! That does sound awful!

Mia is sooo adorable! I love her "art deco" pumpkins--such talent! I hear you about winter. When my son was a toddler, we loved playing with playdough, baking, singing and dancing to music, reading, and playing hide and go seek... Unfortunately, we couldn't keep the TV off the whole time, but I tried my best... What a great question!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that winter is gentle for everyone this year! I love her pumpkins and how smart are you to take that activity outside. Pumpkin painting is on our list for this month too. My kid loves to paint so I'm pretty sure she'll have a blast and will end up getting mad at me when she's painted all the pumpkins! haha!

This is probably the only time I'm super thankful to be in AZ. Summers are brutal but winter makes up for it! We got the kids the white kid raft kitchen- always deals around online. It was a great buy!!!

I love the pictures! I will have to do this with my son! He would enjoy painting a pumpkin!

Oh, do I hear ya! And I have to say that this winter and next will probably be some of your worst... at least it was for me. For some reason, having just one kid too young for preschool made days during the winter so so loooong. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And it sounds like you have some fabulous ideas lined up already. And a great community for ideas, encouragement, and help. All I know is that if it's above freezing at all, bundle up and go for a walk. That fresh air is a lifesaver!

LOVING her sunglasses! And love this idea! Just might need to keep this one tucked away for December (when I finally take down the pumpkins because I told Seth that they were multi-functional Halloween and Thanksgiving decor! LOL).
