just the two of us

1. Go on a vacation with Eric... without Mia.
5. Visit the Green Monster.
Ever since we first got married, Eric and I have dreamed of vising Boston... and we finally went last week! It feels so good to cross more off my 27 before 27 list, but it feels even better getting that time with Eric to reconnect!
It is so easy to get lost in giving 100% to Mia. She's been an angel baby since day one and brings us so much happiness! She is so happy, so loving, instantly forgives us for our faults, and is easy to please! Like I said, it's easy to put our everything into her because Eric and I aren't always so happy and loving, and we certainly aren't as quick to forgive as Mia is. She is the best example of how we want to be... hopefully we will achieve those goals someday!
While it's obvious that we are completely obsessed with Mia, I never want to forget how obsessed I was with Eric and our marriage before she came along! It's taken some time to adjust to the major changes a baby brings to a relationship, but our marriage is, and always will be, #1 on our list. I hope that we can escape together once a year because we had the best time! It was the perfect reminder that we are good together, we have so much fun and our relationship is more than just our baby (if that makes sense?). The night before we left for Boston Eric told me he felt like we were going on a second honeymoon :) My heart almost burst right then! It felt amazing knowing that Eric was that excited to spend time with just me (okay, and the Red Sox....)! I was worried that I would feel guilty going without Mia, or that I wouldn't enjoy myself without her, but it was just the opposite! We were doing ourselves and Mia a favor by taking a time out, and we feel more rejuvenated than ever!
We've also never felt more excited to come home from a vacation, ha ha! It was the best reunion when we got home to Mia. My favorite part? She won't stop saying "mama"... before our trip Mia rarely said it and pretty much only when prompted. She missed me!! :) (But don't worry, Mia had the best time while we were gone and was totally spoiled!!) It feels so good to be home with my loves and I can't wait to relive our Boston vacation when sharing it on the blog!!
Not the most flattering picture but I still love it! I couldn't resist a family selfie when we got home :)

That sounds like a great getaway! Jarrod and I try to get away once a year too. I like to go around Christmas so that we can see different places all decorated!

I totally think part of being great parents is making time for you and your spouse. Good for y'all for getting some alone time to focus on eachother! Sounds like y'all had a blast. And then it makes coming home to your kiddos even more wonderful! xo

Love this!!! Totally something I want to do. A coworker of mine was divorced and remarried and she said the difference this time was that they went away on vacation once a year, just the two of them. (Okay I'm sure that wasn't the ONLY difference! Plus she didn't have any kids with her first husband, but. . . still good advice!)

I totally agree it makes us better parents when we take time out for ourselves.

aw, love that she's saying Mama, it's always nice to know that we were missed and that they would in fact miss us if we left. Glad that you got a vacation with the hubby, can't wait to see pictures!

I think that it's VERY important to keep things between you & the hubby a priority - dates, vacations, etc. Good for you two! :)

I'm just so glad you guys had a great time and enjoyed a trip without Mia. So hard to leave them, and then it usually turns out to be a great decision. That first step!

I love love love that you two realized you could go somewhere without Mia. That's one thing that bugs me about some of my closest friends - now that baby is here, they won't spend time with their hubby. Family time is important but its just as important for adult time too :)

So, so, so sweet! I LOVE this. And can totally relate to every word you said. I complete understand. I want to give my everything to Mason, but there's more than Mason, there's Seth too. Seth and I went on a date night last night (which is all we can get these days... work's too crazy for a vacation right now) but it was just perfect! Sometimes you need a little alone time and although you miss the baby, it's just what the marriage needs!

It looks like you guys had the BEST trip! And much needed- it's crazy how getting away just the two of you is huge! But it is! Leaving a babe at home is so so hard-- yet so so needed! I hope you slept in lots and lots for me :)

what a fun trip! We are not RedSox fans, but I think this would have been such a great trip! And Hubby & I firmly believe in taking vacations without our kiddos! We have taken one every year since Elyse was born (including a 48ish hour getaway to Chicago)! Sure I had my breast pump in tow...but it was so nice to reconnect if just for a few short hours!
