let is snow...

photo pulled from my Instagram
I grew up in the dessert where it rarely snows in the winter. I remember my parents waking my brothers and I up in the middle of the night once, when we were young, to watch the snow fall because it was that rare! The first winter after Eric and I were married we experienced my first "snow day" (that I can remember), and it was a total joke to those who have lived in snow. We woke up to snow everywhere which was exciting!... but it had melted away by 11am, ha ha! But my home town wasn't equipped to to have the buses travel in safety to school and well? Snow just kind of shuts the town down, so it was an exciting morning to have school and work cancelled :)
This will be my fourth year living in the snooooow. I always dread this time of year because the first time I experienced a "real" winter, I also experienced seasonal depression for the first time. I am usually a happy girl and the idea of being in that dark place again really terrifies me!
Last night we had our first "real" snow where it actually felt like winter. Eric was so sweet and let me trade date night for a much needed girls night. When it was time to go home, my friend and I were about to run out to the car, we decided to take a couple pictures in the snow. As we were laughing hysterically and freezing our buns off (I stupidly forgot my coat, I'm not cut out for winter!) trying to get a picture (or 20) I realized I was experiencing true joy in the snow! Maybe I was on a little high from girls night, maybe I was sleep deprived and totally delirious? Or maybe my sweet angel baby has me looking at life in a totally different way! I'm not so scared of winter because I have my little bestie to spend my days with. And if kids don't make snow magical, I don't know what will! Plus, the snow finally makes it feel like Christmas really is right around the corner :)
So I'm sure as soon as the new year begins I will be crying about the freezing weather and slick roads... but until then? Let it snow!

P.S. Pray that I don't wreck my new car this winter even though I've already scratched the paint ;)

Where did you grow up? I grew up in CA and my first winter in Provo was SO HARD. I still don't love it but I have found ways to cope. It doesn't get bad until January and then I need spring!!

Awww! I'm so jealous that you get to play in the snow! I've never seen snow in all of my 32 years and can't wait until the day that I get to make real snow angels. I bet the snow will surely get you in the holiday spirit, for sure! PS- you look great! Have a good weekend!

It never snows where we live- we we travel over 5 hours multiple times a winter to ski in it! Iove it SO MUCH. But I think some of that would go away if I had to LIVE in it... Shoveling is my least fav thing ever!

You're making me excited for the snow! :) I suffer from seasonal depression every February, no matter what. Hoping this year will be better too.

Haha I love that you're in a t-shirt in it!! I love snow too. I know the season makes a lot of people depressed, but I just love it.

Whenever we get snow in England, everything grinds to a halt because my lovely country just doesn't know how to deal with snow! However, I loved it when I was still working because it often meant I got to go home early and I can never complain about that! By the way, thanks for the shout out :-) x

I love the snow - it means ski trips, weekends at a cabin in the woods, all those fun winter activities. I'm excited to hear what Mia thinks of the snow!

I've grown up with snow all my life but I quite dislike winter! The snow is pretty when you can watch it falling from inside your cozy home or can dress up warmly to play in it. It's not great for running/walking in, or driving in.

I think we see everything in a whole new light when we have littles ones since they are so fascinated by the smallest things!

Our town shuts down too when the snow hits. I'm sorry you dread it though. Better hit up that tanning bed, I heard that helps!

We haven't had any snow yet. Just a lot of rain. Looks like a pretty snow though in that picture.

I hate snow!! Okay, I don't mind looking at it from inside a cozy home but I hate going out in it!

SNOW!! I am so jealous! It rarely snows in Seattle, even in the winter, but now that I live more toward the mountains I think I might get a little bit now and then... we'll see!

Have a fantastic weekend!

I grew up in major snow so I'm finally glad to be in CA and not experiencing it!

I know what you mean about the winter blues! Last winter was my first one in Alaska, and I was seriously not a fun person to be around. Now I pop vitamin D like skittles...but I grew up in vegas, so I am a warm weather lover :)

You look beautifully joyful about the snow!! I really struggle with appreciating winter--I am such a warm weather girl and I get so sick of feeling cold all the time--but I do have to admit that snow is pretty gorgeous to look at!

Haha, cute picture! I am with you, usually do not prefer the snow! I am such a home body in the Winter. Kids do make it more fun though, my boys love to run around in it.. and try to eat it. ha.

I love this picture of you in the snow! The first snow does have the magic of turning us back into kids. (By March or February, however, I think we're done with it.) My son has been excited about snow too...Since the first day of fall back in September he's been counting down the days until winter. I do admit that I hope we get a few snow days this year. It's always fun to stay home and go sledding and then warm up with a hot cup of cocoa!
