presenting my costume...

Dressing up for Halloween really isn't my thing. I don't feel like I'm very creative, and I'm not resourceful when it comes to putting together a costume. Plus, if I had it my way, I'd be a princess every year. Cheesy? Yes, but it's true :) haha. A couple years ago we went to a some Halloween parties and we dressed up as tacky tourists...

It was silly but it worked!
That is totally a spider man fanny pack :)

Well this past week my brother and sister in law had a little Halloween party and I was stressing big time about dressing up. But then, I received some inspiration..... from my blog! Haha, I am so serious! Let me present...

Barbie Magic Hairstylist and my Ken ;)
We're not paying attention to the camera but you can see my easy peasy costume.

I know it's hard to tell from the pictures but I had really big, fluffy barbie hair (honestly, I never poof my hair like that) and very pink make up! Eric just got to wear his normal clothes (which he was happy about, that man is not easy to work with haha) and I gave him a big pink smooch on his cheek ;) Super easy, right?
I knew I pulled the costume off when my brother made fun of me throughout the night, ha! We had such a great time at the party! I wouldn't mind more Halloween's like this one :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Gardner Village with special friends :)

I can't believe it's already the end of October! I mean seriously, where did the month go? We are going to a little Halloween party Saturday night and I'm kind of excited to dress up :) I bet you guy's will never guess what I'm going to be... haha.
Anyway, earlier this week I got to meet some bloggy friends! Eric has told me that I'm not allowed (haha) to meet other blogger's by myself in case they're creepers; but luckily for me my sister in law met a couple of these girls so there was proof that they weren't... creepers :) We met at Gardner Village for lunch and shopping/browsing. Despite the chilly weather I had an amazing time with these girls!

I was a little too excited about this witchy poo... I've obviously been married to a man for awhile now, if you know what I mean ;) haha

Gentri, Savannah, Megan, Melissa, Jessica, and Sarah... I'm so happy I got to meet you girls :)
Gardner Village is SO adorable, but I didn't even take one picture to prove it. So take a look at Gentri's blog to see more of these cute girls and Gardner Village!

5 things I've loved about fall

Let me just start this off by saying that if I didn't dread the winter that always follows too closely to fall, I'd love this season so much more :) But to look for the positive in everything, I thought I'd share my favorite things about this October.

How can this not make you happy?? :) Crafting and decorating for the holidays are always fun!

Hot chocolate and donuts are the best fall treat ever. Ok, let's face it. They're the best treat anytime of the year. But I love my treats decorated to the season ;)

This stuff is freakin' amazing! Need I say more?

Halloween/Fall festivities with our friends and their adorable kids have been a blast!

There's nothing better than enjoying the season with my man! No surprise there, right? :)

our weekend in Zions

We visited my parents for the weekend and spent our Saturday at Zions National Park. The scenery was beautiful and the weather was like heaven! We had such a fun day full of hiking, eating, and laughing. Eric did not miss out on the chance to be ornery with pictures, partner with  my dad to tease my mom and I relentlessly, and to wear the same colored outfit. He knows I just love it when he basically wears the same color from head to toe... Men :) In my opinion, this was a perfect way to spend our Saturday!

change of plans...

I was going to copy Ashley and write up a post of texts between Eric and me, but this is the first one I read:

Eric: Hi there sugar plum bum, I frickin love you.
Me: Prove it and go get me a pizza :)

.... And then I changed my mind. Haha!
(side note: 'frickin' is not to be confused with 'freakin'... there is more of an emphasis, more force with the word to make it more passionate. Haha! At least Eric thinks so :) Oh and you'll never ever hear the words sugar plum bum come out of his mouth. Ever.)

Instead, I just want to give a little shout out to my man. I am so lucky he's mine! Sometimes it is so easy, too easy, to pick at our relationship and point out what's wrong. Or that I expect more out of him. Or to tell him what I want, want, want.
Then I take a step back and realize how ridiculous and selfish I am. Eric is good at everything he does. He's almost always right. Almost. And he always has my best intentions in mind. He puts me first, and I'm not sure I deserve it. But I am grateful.
Eric loves me in the best way possible, he loves me his way. He is perfect for me. I love that man with my whole heart!

I'm finally getting into the fall/Halloween spirit :) Saturday evening we had the best time at Cornbelly's. That place was like heaven for little kids! We had such a great time with our friends and their adorable little ones!

Some highlights of our night:
Corn maze! The hidden clues were fun but I think we ended up cheating to finish. But only a little... ha!
Lovin' on the little ones.
Pig races, need I say more?
Lovin' on Eric ;)
Watching our husbands race with bouncy air horses.. haha we all may have peed our pants a little from laughing so hard!
Finding funky shaped pumpkins.
The yummiest dinner at Olive Garden.
Hanging out with amazing friends!

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it through the miserable winter if we have more good times like these :)

polygamy is not for us...

So Eric and I have been watching Sister Wives on netflix the past couple days. I know, we're crazy, but it's so fascinating to watch this show and see how these people live. The idea of Polygamy just blows my mind... I'm definitely too jealous for that! I thought all man kind in general were too jealous for that, but whatevs :)
Anyway, while watching the show I told Eric:

me: Eric, I only want you. And you better only want me.
eric: Don't worry babe! You've got enough personalities that I couldn't possibly handle another wife.
...
...
...

Well then... that's reassuring.
Luckily for him... he's cute.  And I know he loves me :)

P.S. Just in case there's some confusion... Fundamentalist Mormons and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormons) are most definitely not the same religion :)

I thought I was going to die...

...but I survived my first race! I ran my 10k (6.2 miles) in 57 minutes and placed 5th in my age group. Seriously, that is better than I was hoping for! My goal was to make it in under an hour, even if it was 59 minutes and 59 seconds :) I'm so happy with how I finished!
Side note: Eric decided the night before that he wanted to sign up for the race (mainly to get the shirt ha) and he hasn't been running in months. I love that crazy man :)
It was so great having awesome friends to run with and even better to have an amazing group to hangout with after the race! We are so so blessed in the friend department :)

That's me crossing the finish line :)

If it looks like I'm dying here... it's because I felt like I was going to ;)

They had rootbeer (Utah+Oktoberfest= no beer. Just rootbeer!) which did not hit the spot for me at all! But we did win matchy socks! :)

It was a perfect day to finish my first race! Next on the racing agenda?? A 5k :)

P.S. Running hurts! I still don't know why people love it....

Disneyland + Halloween = adorable!

3 years ago, sometime in October, Eric and I went to Disneyland with my family. We had such a fun time despite the hotel accommodations! You see, we figured we'd get the best deal by booking a suite. Eric and I would have our own bedroom, my parents would have their own bedroom, and my brothers could... well I didn't really care what my brothers did as long as I got my own room with the hubs haha. But the suites in California (at least the hotels by Disneyland) are unlike any other. They pretty much scrunch a crappy couch with a pull out bed into a normal sized hotel room and call it a suite. I'm not even kidding. Imagine our surprise as we walked into an ordinary hotel room, besides the fact that there was no room to walk around, and found out that we were practically sleeping on top of my brothers. GAH! And on the crappy pull out bed no less!
My dad went right down to the desk to get them to switch our room and they pretty much told him tough luck! Ah, I was so mad! They did move us to a different room that was bigger, but we still got stuck on the crappy pull out bed, and a curtain to separate me and Eric from my family. I'm really not kidding. It's safe to say that those 5 nights were some of the longest of my life :) I love my family... but the next time we go on vacation together I'm booking a separate room no matter what! No more suites for me :)
While I'm reminiscing I'll share some pictures from the trip. Disneyland is even more adorable at Halloween time! Oh and those of you who asked to see pictures of my short hair (from this post), I have short hair in these pictures :)

The only reason Eric wasn't pulling the same face as my brother's in these pictures is because 1. we were still cute newly weds and 2. he was still sucking up to my mom. Now that he's got her wrapped around his finger he has her agreeing with him that I take too many pictures. Puhleeease!

Like I said, we had SO much fun on this trip but I was just so ready to have my privacy back as well as a break from Disneyland. We swore we weren't going back until we have kids but Eric and I are just dying to go back! Hopefully within the next year... maybe 2 :) I'd really like to see Disneyland all decorated for Christmas!
