because we all like to talk about this... ha!

Warning: I am posting some pretty NOT cute pictures of myself... don't be scared, and please continue to be my friend :)

So, today I am talking about my fitness. Last winter was pretty tough for me, I was a little depressed, and I liked to eat as much crap as I could. There was no way I was leaving the house to work out (even though I needed it) in the awful winter weather. No way. This summer I realized I'd become a little more squishy than ever. I guess eating junk and not working out actually does make a difference. Who knew?
Anyway, I decided it was time to get back in shape! The squishy body was definitely incentive to get back to work, but honestly I made this decision because it just.feels.good. My winter depression was a result of multiple reasons, but a part of it was sitting on my bum all the time. I totally believe that working out is good for the mind, body, and soul!
I still eat all the junk I want, I'm not good with self control. But I make it a point to work out 5 days a week. A fab body surely is a perk of working out (not that I have one,but I wouldn't mind to have one someday ha) but I think the best part of working out is feeling like I have a powerful body. It feels so good to know that if I need to lift a heavy object- I can. Twisting off a water bottle cap is another story, that's what husbands are for :) If I need to run- I can run. You get the point? Women should feel powerful, so I'm not letting this go. I'm going to continue to work out because it feels good, because I like it, and because I'm doing it for me.

Nicole and I meet each morning between 6-6:30 for our run. We have witnessed some of the most beautiful sunrises ever! I'm going to have to start running with my camera to capture some proof! #crazyblogger
Confession: I don't have a twitter, I've never even seen a twitter, but I've always wanted to do that hash tag thing haha!
Want to hear some exciting/crazy news? Nicole and I will be running a 10k next month. I figured if I'm going to kill myself, I  may as well be thorough and skip the 5k :) Wish us luck! Because we all know I definitely need it haha!

I'm the complainer in this relationship... obviously.
We had already been doing Jillian Michael's No Trouble Zones dvd (LOVE it) and when I saw 30 Day Shred all over blog land we decided to give it a try. It is SO great! So great that I never have the violent urge to punch Jillian Michael's in the mouth. Sometimes work out videos have that affect on me.. Tony Horton anyone?? Anyway, we definitely recommend both of those work out DVDs to everyone! Try them, you'll be so happy you did!
Running, spin, free weights, work out DVDs, these are all a huge part of my life now. My day, my body, and my attitude are all better because of them. Feeling powerful is much more important to me than feeling skinny, THAT is why I am loving getting back in shape.

Keep at it girl, you are doing great. I have never been a fan of work out videos, but I do love Jillian Michael's.

Being pregnant makes you feel helpless! I wish I could still feel capable of doing simple things like moving boxes!

Good job staying on track though!

Glad you are enjoying 30 Day Shred. I've been really bad about doing it consistently. I've done it 7 days now. I've been super stressed with life lately and have let working out slip. It's unfortunate b/c working out can actually give me the emotional lift and determination that I need to get through the rest of the junk! You are so right that it's good for mind, body, and soul. I also like that to think that God gave me this body, so I should probably take care of it. I hope to get my act back together!!!

You go girl!! I went to the gym all the time before I had knee surgery! I loved the weights the most. Keeps my butt looking good :)

Anyways since I had surgery I can't run! How sad is that?! So now my workout consists of lifting 3 lb weights. It's terrible! I'll get there someday :)

That's awesome, girl!! I've been running most mornings, but maybe I'll throw 30 Day Shred back into my repertoire. (I did that back when I was on maternity leave, so I know it's TOUGH!) Anyways, keep it up!!! You're doing great and will be in tip top shape in no time at all! =)

I agree times about a billion! seriously. I think the point of working out and eating right should ALWAYS be to be healthy not..skinny or look like this picture or weigh this number. You're awesome :)

Okay first of all you do have a rockin body! But I know exactly what you mean. Your body just feels blah when you aren't doing anything. Exercising and (trying to) eat right make such a huge difference. It makes you feel so amazing and just feel strong like you said. You go girl!

That is so awesome! Good luck on your 10k, you'll kick butt I know it :) I'm totally addicted to working out, I've lost 103 pounds so far, but I really do it for the 'runners' high I get, so addicting!

good luck on your 10K!!! you are a better woman than I....anytime I run I end up being the person that people drive by and think to themselves, "she looks like she is struggling BAD"

PS: thank you for stopping by my blog!!!

I'm impressed! You go girl! I was supposed to run my 5k next week, but instead I'm going to go on my little vacation and stuff my face with food. So much better than running 3.2miles if you ask me. Haha.
But really, you be good and keep up all this hard work :-)

Courtney,

Thanks for the sweet comment this afternoon! I am new to the blog world and you were my very first comment by someone that I don't know. :) It really made me smile.

I totally relate to your post. I go through phases as well. I never use to work out and my boyfriend really wanted me to go with him. However...instead of doing it for him...I began to do it for me. I love it now and it gives me a strong feeling of power and control over my life when so many things are out of our hands. :) Keep it up!
