we made it!

Mia's bow c/o Her Joyful Studio
Our new (rental) home in Arizona! And yes, I look like dirt here, ha!
After a long weekend of moving, we woke up Sunday morning in ARIZONA. Did I mention that it was extremely foggy?! What?! It burned off by the afternoon though and we got a glimpse into our sunny future here :)
The move actually went really smoothly! I was totally expecting lots of fights and a little bit of hair pulling between Eric and I, but our marriage survived and I dare say most of the move was done with happy attitudes ;) Our families are amazing and helped so much! Eric's parents helped us get backed up, my younger (single! who wants to be my SIL?!) brother helped us pack up the truck in Utah, then my parents met us in Arizona and helped unload and unpack.
Let's talk the downsides of our moving weekend- Our gas wasn't turned on before we moved in sooooo, guess who hasn't showered all weekend?! This girl! Yes, I'm disgusting. Justkeepingitreal. I guessed that I wouldn't cry about the move (actually, cry about the people we love that we left in Utah) until after the fact, and I was right! My mom started crying when my parents were hugging us goodbye and that's when it hit me like a ton o' bricks, we moved! So I had a pity party for a while. I'm guessing if I had been able to jump in a hot shower, my pity party wouldn't have lasted so long, ha!
The upsides? The Patriots won the Super Bowl = one very happy husband! (We were about 20 minutes away from the stadium and I thought about trying to surprise Eric with tickets... until I realized the $8,000 tickets were slightly out of our price range, HA!) Another upside? Eric is loving the 3 car garage and I'm loving all the space in this house. Mia is too! Although, my heart hurts a little each time Mia asks to go downstairs (we don't have stairs anymore, and I will miss the extra exercise through the day, ha ha!) and asks if white rocks are snow. Thank heavens we are only a road trip away from Utah! We will definitely be back to visit, and we can't wait to have visitors come stay with us! The guest room is already set up ;)
As you can see from this post, I'm all over the place due to my emotions and exhaustion. Basically I'm feeling very bitter-sweet about this move but I'm really looking forward to getting unpacked and settled, and finding new activities for Mia and I to get involved with and find our new routine! Wish us luck!
We finally have a huge yard for Mia to play in... and it's all rock! Welcome to Arizona :)

Congratulations on your move! I went on a trip to Scottsdale, AZ a decade ago and loved it! I hope you love your new place, make lots of new friends, and find tons of fun activities for you and Mia. You are one strong mom; I'd probably be weeping about the move for months. On to new adventures!

Glad you're all settled in and glad that your Patriots won! ;) Isn't it ridiculous how expensive the tickets were?! They're always expensive, but this year was actually worse than previous years. That breaks my heart to think of her asking to go downstairs! She's so smart, though...she'll pick it up in no time!

First off, a one level house ROCKS in my opinion. It's so much easier to keep track of the kids and clean up, etc. Looove it. Secondly, give yourself lots of time to adjust. My first winter in our new home was rough, but I knew it was just a matter of time until I made new friends and knew my way around the area. A year later, I was calling this place home with all my heart. So keep that chin up. You have the right attitude. Best wishes! Can't wait to read all about your new adventures in AZ.

I'm so glad the move went smoothly for you and that you had so much help! Moving is so bittersweet and can be soooo hard to do sometimes. But, I'm sure you will love your new home and make friends quickly. Enjoy these first moving days and weeks, they're some of the most fun days about a new place :)

White rocks as snow, aww. Aria thinks snow is sand. Sunny isn't so bad =) esp sunny with a breeze, my fave.
Too bad about that shower thing though. Make new friends, borrow a shower?

We moved this weekend too, and same thing with no gas. Blah. So you weren't the only one without a shower for a few days ;) We didn't move very far, so it wasn't super emotional for us, but I feel ya on the exhaustion. Moving is hard work!

It's a new adventure!! I totally know how you feel. When I moved across the country my emotions were everywhere. You'll get back to normal and get a routine going and that helps.
